One more time we enjoyed smooth roads and a high-quality bus to reach the city of Yazd, Iran (from Kerman)! We directly took a Snapp (Uber-like) to reach our CouchSurfing host's home. It was late and we were really tired. So, we discovered the food delivery at home which is as efficient as in Europe!
Day 1: Zoroastrian Temples and the Deserted Streets
Next day, we began to visit the Zoroastrian Fire Temple (Yazd Atash Behram) which has a really nice pictures exposition downstairs. By the way, we discovered the Zoroastrian religion, which was the main one in the Persian empire before the Arab conquest of Iran. In the Fire Temple, we also saw a small water storage. We continued to walk and we found a good place for milkshakes :-)!

We crossed a lot of streets where there were not so many people during that time of the day. We saw a watermill (Golshan one) on the way. It's quite impressive how the city can become so dead in the middle of the day as everyone stays at home because it's too hot!

We reached the touristic place (Pishtaq) and visited the Amir Chakhmaq Complex (unfortunately the Mosque was closed). Just after we visited the Water Museum. We think, for us it was the most interesting place in Yazd! There is a really friendly man who was speaking French and explained us a lot of things about ancient water systems!

Then, we walked again, crossed the Bazar of Sarafha and visited the Yazd Alexander's Prison which was more a group of souvenir shops instead of a really interesting place to visit... Same about the "Art Coffee" nearby where we stopped... Drinks were not so good, the guy working there was not friendly, prices not so small…

Evening: The Marco Polo Rooftop
We returned to our friend's home to rest a bit before leaving to a really cool and good restaurant located on a rooftop (Marco Polo Rooftop) near the famous Jameh Mosque of Yazd we visited earlier. For us it was one of the best memories seeing the city with all the lights :-)

When we found out about the name of our trip "Track the Footprints", we directly thought about tracking the Footprints of Marco Polo. Un clin d'oeil like we said in French!

Which is quite funny, every evening since we are in Iran, we watch football with our host. We are not big fans of it, but we spent always good time all together in front of the TV.
Day 2: Gardens and the Towers of Silence
Next morning, we just relaxed, visited the Dowlar Abad Garden where we had lunch and the famous two Towers of Silence (both worth to visit). These ancient Zoroastrian funerary towers left us with a strange, haunting feeling — and a beautiful view of Yazd from above.

And we took our bus to Esfahan, Iran next day! We didn't feel in love with Yazd compared to Shiraz or Kerman but it was still an interesting place to visit!
