It was our last day in India and our plan was to cross the border at Kakarbhitta to sleep in Nepal. We were not sure about all the requirements, but, surprisingly, immigration was impressively easy! They were so nice, WiFi available, and the guys even agreed to accept payment for a visa with our old dollars mixed with Indian rupees.

An Unexpected Invitation
And a nice story began... We asked the immigration officer if he knew a simple place to sleep. His English was not so good, but he said yes and gave us a phone number. He called it and explained a man will picked us up in 30 minutes. So, you know nothing about the place, the price or the persons, but we decided to wait and trust him. This is how we met an amazing couple, Bala and Dev.
A nice man arrived at the border office (Dev) and explained that the immigration officer is his nephew and he gave his number if someone needs a place to sleep :-) After 2 minutes, we got into his car and drove for 30 minutes to complete Nepal countryside. We met his wife, a lovely woman (Bala).

Bala, Dev, and Their School
And you know what? They have dedicated their life to build a private school for kids just next to their home, as their 3 kids are enough autonomous/grown up. There are 60 kids attending the school. And there are activities 6 days a week. We were lucky to see all of them before leaving. Amazing kids! We spent 2 days with this lovely couple and learnt so many things about Nepal :-) Check out our pictures!

Kathmandu
Then, we took a flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. This is the first time we choose to fly instead of taking a bus. We were really tired after our trek in Sikkim to be honest and 17 hours of bus demotivated us completely. Not good for our budget but sometimes, it worth to do like this. So, we spent 3 days in the capital. We could relax, choose a trek we want to do and get the permits, discover new local meals...

We are preparing a new update about 7 days on the Annapurna Circuit trek! It was not on our initial plan at all, but as the season is over, we had really few tourists on the trek :-) Lucky us!
