Thailand: Cocktails, Rescue Diving, and Zero Fish Photos

March 25, 20186 min readby William & Augustina

We spent 10 days in Thailand β€” Koh Lanta with friends, Railay Beach, and 4 intense days of PADI Rescue Diver training on Koh Tao. We even don't have a single picture of a fish.

Koh Lanta with Friends

We are a bit late updating our page, sorry for that! So, Koh Lanta Island was our first stop during our short stay in Thailand. We chose this island mostly because our friends were there for vacation (and who does not like to see some friendly faces when traveling for a long time!?). So, we spent 5 days there and it was a real vacation for us.

In this region of Thailand, everything is so touristic that traveling becomes very easy (even too much for us sometimes). So, no really big adventures over there. A lot of sunsets while drinking delicious cocktails, white sandy beaches, a few interesting creatures met on the road and hikes, delicious Thai food and a lot of good conversations.

Kayaking Through the Mangroves

We rented a kayak and paddled through the mangroves. The monkeys there are something else β€” absolutely zero fear of humans. One of them literally didn't pay for his spot in our kayak.

Krabi and Railay Beach

Afterwards we moved to Krabi just for a night to look around and visit nice places such as the famous Railay Beach.

Koh Tao: Rescue Diver

Then, we decided to cross the other side of the peninsula to visit other islands. After catching a local bus (lucky us, we took it literally last second before it was leaving), we took a night ferry to Koh Tao, a small island known for good diving spots. William decided to pass his PADI Rescue Diver course there. After 4 intense days of training, he is an official rescue diver (last step before becoming Dive Master)! We even don't have a single picture of a fish!!!

Into Myanmar

Now we already crossed the border with Myanmar and we are in Myeik city. Our experience is already different β€” people are really nice, which was not the case for us every day in Thailand, unfortunately (over-tourism is killing humanity at the end…).
