After almost 3 weeks in Iran it was the time to visit Tehran, Iran, the capital. We are not really city people but it was a must to spend at least 2-3 days there.
We met so many people, tourists or Iranian, who told us that this city is crowded, not friendly, dusty and really big. We can say that it's mostly true. We don't like this city and it was the first time some Iranian looked at us badly... Especially Augustina, looking like they never saw a woman... staring with absolutely no respect.
Well... We also had very good short meetings in the streets with some people. And we had an amazing CouchSurfing woman! Moreover, she is a mountaineer and will soon open a Guest House in the middle of Tehran with some possibilities to hike and climb peaks of Iran :-)
Azadi Square and the Golestan Palace
We did a few tourist activities such as walking a lot in the city, visiting the nice Azadi Square and the luxury Golestan, Iran palace (it's really nice!) and eating ice-creams...

The Golestan Palace was really impressive. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site β all that opulent tile work, mirrors, and carved marble.

Darband: Tehran's Best Kept Secret
The best was visiting Darband which is in the North of Tehran. It makes us think of the Montmartre of Paris. It's elevated and there is a lot of restaurants and small shops. From there you can also hike and climb mountains. We saw lot of people going there for that. It's a must see!

Tehran was clearly the least interesting place in Iran for us, but a good place to start new rides toward beautiful nature!
We will update you with a few another amazing destinations in Iran ASAP :-)
